Milltown FC now finds themselves with a penthouse view of the Canadian Soccer League.
With a dominating victory over the North York Astros — combined with the front-running York Region Shooters’ surprising tie with Toronto Croatia — the local expansion club nudged its way into top spot this past weekend.
MFC now sports a nine-game undefeated streak and heads out on a lengthy road trip at 7-2-4.
On a night when a decisive verdict still didn’t do justice to how one-sided things were, MFC struck early and cruised to a 3-0 whitewash of the thoroughly overmatched Astros Friday at Bishop Reding Field.

Despite ominous skies and the threat of thundershowers, a large and enthusiastic crowd gathered at Bishop Reding Field in Milton on Friday night in support of Milltown FC as they attempted to close out a run of six straight Friday night home games on a high note.
Hot on the heels of a thrilling 2-1 victory over FC Hamilton Croatia last Friday, which put them all alone in 2nd place in the Canadian Soccer League standing, Milltown FC prepared to face North York Astros, a team they had defeated by a score of 4-2 back on June 27. MFC and North York came into the game going in opposite directions, with Milltown riding an eight game undefeated streak while Astros had lost four in a row after a very good start to the season.

Milltown FC took over top position in the CSL standings with a 3-0 defeat of North York Astros Friday night, while in three other games Montreal Impact Academy blanked St. Catharines Wolves 2-0, Serbian White Eagles won a 1-0 squeaker over FC Hamilton Croatia and Portugal FC ran riot over London City 7-3.
Milltown FC, in their inaugural CSL season, is one of four new teams in the 2010 campaign and is representing the town of Milton just west of Toronto, the smallest population of the nine community teams in the CSL. The carefully selected side that expected to use the first year to become established in the tough pro loop, has attracted a lot of attention with an undefeated streak under head coach Rafael Carbajal that now extends to nine games going back to June 6.
