St. Catharines, ON - A longer than expected layoff between matches turned out to be the perfect medicine for Milltown FC.
Milltown FC's match in Hamilton scheduled for August 15 had to be postponed due to a waterlogged pitch so MFC ended up with 10 days of rest ahead of a midweek fixture with St. Catharines Wolves at Club Roma and the team from Milton took full advantage of those fresh legs, scoring early and often en route to a 5-0 win.
Tristan Scott opened the scoring for Milltown just 3 minutes into the match. Gersi Xhuti's left footed blast from 18 yards out crashed off the crossbar and Scott, who was smartly trailing the play, jumped higher than the Wolves defender marking him to head home the rebound. It was Scott's 2nd goal of the year.

The race for top spot in the Canadian Soccer League standings is certainly going to be fierce in 2010. One week ago, Milltown FC went into their match with Toronto FC Academy sitting in first place, thanks to a nine game undefeated streak. However, as a result of their 1-0 loss to the young TFC-A squad, Milltown entered this week’s match with York Region Shooters sitting in fourth place, although a win would put them back in the top position in the table.
The last time these two teams faced each other, MFC took the full 3 points at home thanks to a pair of second half goals by Cordell Benjamin. Milltown is undefeated at home this season (5 wins and 2 ties) but the club’s record away from Milton hasn’t been quite as convincing, having earned only 8 points from seven away matches going into this fixture.
